Dana & Eric Newman To Be Honored at Venice Community Housing’s 34th Annual Jazz Brunch on September 27th

Eric and Dana Newman are steadfast champions of housing justice whose extraordinary generosity, leadership, and advocacy have helped strengthen Venice Community Housing and expand opportunities for individuals and families seeking stable, affordable homes.

For more than a decade, the Newmans have been deeply committed partners in VCH’s mission. As volunteers, donors, fundraisers, connectors, and community advocates, they have consistently invested their time, resources, and influence to advance housing solutions across West Los Angeles. Their support reflects a shared belief that safe, stable housing is the foundation upon which individuals, families, and communities can thrive.

Dana’s connection to VCH began through hands-on volunteer service with families experiencing homelessness, an experience that inspired her long-standing commitment to the organization. She later served on VCH’s Board of Directors, including as Treasurer, helping guide the organization through periods of growth while championing thoughtful stewardship and community impact.

Eric, an acclaimed film & television producer and storyteller whose many credits include Narcos, Griselda, and the academy award nominated Children of Men, has brought the same passion and commitment to addressing the housing crisis in his hometown of Los Angeles. Together, Eric and Dana have leveraged their networks, leadership, and philanthropy to build support for affordable housing and create meaningful opportunities for others to join the cause.

In recognition of their enduring partnership, remarkable generosity, and unwavering belief in the power of housing to transform lives, Venice Community Housing is proud to honor Eric and Dana Newman with the 2026 Courage in Action Award. We celebrate their leadership, their compassion, and their lasting contributions to the movement for housing justice. Their example continues to inspire all of us working toward a more equitable and inclusive Los Angeles.
