Sankofa Place Breaks Ground
We recently celebrated the groundbreaking of Sankofa Place at Centinela in Inglewood!

Developed in partnership with the Social Justice Learning Institute, Linc Housing, and Venice Community Housing, Sankofa Place will bring 120 affordable homes to the community and serve as the new permanent headquarters and cultural center for SJLI, with an expected completion of fall 2028.
Thank you to the incredible teams at SJLI, Linc, and VCH for making this project possible; to the elected officials who joined us to celebrate this milestone – Senator Laura Richardson, Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Inglewood Mayor James Butts, Councilman Alex Padilla; and to Motherland Music for an amazing performance that made the day even more special.

We’re excited to see Sankofa Place take shape and grateful to everyone helping make more affordable housing and community resources possible. Here’s to what we’re building together!
